MUSICAL/THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE
The Young Quill presents the musical-theatrical performance “The story of a one-eyed creature”. The direction is by Aikaterini Papageorgiou and the composition of the music by Alexandra Mikroutsikou.
The work is based on the eleventh rhapsody of Homer’s Odyssey and the “Erotic Polyphemus” by the poet Theocritus of Syracuse. Performed by four actors and two musicians, Christina Kostea, Tasos Lekkas, Costas Koutroulis Tryfonas Zaharis, Angelos Aggelou, Alexandra Mikroutsikou.
The show is for the entire family! Its premiere will take place on July 17 in Edipsos and immediately after it will begin its journey to major cities in Greece.
Theatre, live music and visual arts meet on stage. Cyclops Polyphemus comes to life on stage in a large visual installation in the form of a puppet - which the actor moves from within. The actors who frame Odysseus, alternately play different characters / roles in the story - from Odysseus’ companions to Cyclops’ rams - and, playing percussion instruments, accompany the live music lute music.
